Keep on…

Keep on asking and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

Matthew 7:7-8 NLT

Many of you know that I love long distance running. If I had to choose between a 10k and a 5K, I would choose the 10k every time. If my choice is between an 800 meter dash and an 8 mile jog, I am always going to default to the longer distance. I love a long run for many reasons, but I also understand the long term benefits of training my body for endurance.

However, if you look at my life in other areas you would peg me as a sprinter. I start out fast and strong at many things.  I race as hard as my legs will carry me. I can even rally troops of people to sprint right alongside me.

But before you know it, I am on the side of the road, panting and sometimes completely giving up – forgetting everything I know about finishing a race.

Lucky for me, it is rare God calls us to be sprinters. We serve a long-distance God who invites us into an endurance run with Him.

He invites us to “Keep on…”

When I read Matthew 7:7-8 this morning, those first two words spoke to at least five areas of my life immediately. KEEP ON.

There is no sprinting mentality here. God is asking us to lace up our shoes, set our playlist on repeat and hit the road.

Our life with God is going to be a journey not a short trip.

KEEP ON.

What comes to mind for you when you read these words? KEEP ON.

In this passage, Jesus speaks to three specific areas of life… seeking, knocking and asking.

I would love to go into these three areas specifically later this week but for today, I am going to leave this question right here for you…

Where is God inviting you to “KEEP ON…?”
