30 Days of Deeper (Day 19)

“Forget about what’s happened;
don’t keep going over old history.
Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new.
It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it?
There it is! I’m making a road through the desert,
    rivers in the badlands.”

Isaiah 43:19

I could not sleep last night. I tossed. I turned.

And about 4am I heard this Scripture whispered in my heart…”Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

So I rolled out of bed, poured my coffee and began digging in this passage.

A new thing. In the original Hebrew the word “new” is chadash and it means “fresh of this year.”

I don’t know about you… but I NEED A FRESH SOMETHING THIS YEAR. Anything.

Amen?

We all do. And God confirmed to me today that He is about to do something “brand-new”…. It is bursting forth even as I type.

My job?  Our job?

Well look at the Message version.

We are encouraged to be alert and stay present. STOP GOING OVER OLD HISTORY. The future is not there. Yes, there are lessons we can take from the past, but there is also regret and pain.

Stay mindful TODAY.

Stay present TODAY.

Be alert TODAY.

God is working on something for your future right now. And it appears to be something amazing. A road in a desert. A river in the badlands. A way in the wilderness.

I have no idea what this means for you…. but I know it resonates. Because you are human and we have all lived in 2020 together.

But He is also speaking to me about specific things in my own life – I know my own personal deserts and badlands – and something is about to change.  I am taking God on His Word here.

You do the same.

What “wilderness” is coming to mind for you today? Where do you need Him to do that “new thing”?

Stay alert today and be on the lookout. He is up to something …. right now.
