Our day in and day out routine may seem rather mundane. Rarely do we stop and consider the God-size reality of going about in our regular lives. But reading John 9 today stopped me. Oh, the URGENCY in Jesus’ voice!! It really caught my attention and gets me SO EXCITED for you… for all of us!
“We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the One who sent us.” John 9:4 NLT
Later, we discover Jesus is referring to all He must accomplish before His Crucifixion. And although our mundane-daily-routine doesn’t compare to the importance of this world altering moment, Jesus’ urgency and intention is still very applicable to us today.
You have been given a “task” (ἔργον) to carry out. You and only you can fulfill this assignment. In the Greek, task means “labor, deed, action,” but it also means “occupation, employment.” How cool is that? Soooooo as you pray about what you want to do with your life, know that God has assigned you a task (ἔργον) to carry out! Align your heart and mind with Him in prayer – God is faithful to reveal His plan.
Before you go, let me encourage you to see yourself as one SENT of God. I pray you have a holy urgency to “quickly carry out” the task in which God has assigned to you. You have great influence to those around you…. Christ can use your ordinary moments for extraordinary purpose.
