30 Days of Deeper (Day 12)

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

This scripture keeps popping up in my life. From being printed on the page I flipped in my journal to a man literally stopping me on the street and “giving me a word” and quoting this verse verbatim.

YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.

Not just me.

You.

Us.

Light.

Light (phōs) means:

that which is exposed to the view of all, openly, publicly. extremely delicate, subtle, pure, brilliant quality, fire, a star, truth and knowledge, spiritual purity, spotless, holy. Christians are called “phos” having obtained saving wisdom in communion with Christ.

IF EVER our lights have needed to SHINE… IT IS NOW. There is a darkness heavy in this day and GOD SAYS WE ARE LIGHT. We are a fire of truth and knowledge that burns brightly for Him… and God needs our light exposed to bring GLORY TO HIM. To bring HEALING. To bring HOPE.

Let that settle deep inside your soul… not allowing it to feel like pressure but burn a new found passion inside of you.

SOMEONE NEEDS YOUR LIGHT TODAY.

Who might that be?

But one thing is for SURE. We have an adversary. And he HATES YOUR LIGHT. And he will do whatever it takes to snuff it out. Peter instructs us…. “Be sober, be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8)

That enemy of yours is fiercely hungry FOR YOUR LIGHT.

And does anyone else find it is interesting that the FIRST INSTRUCTION we are given to ward off Satan is to BE SOBER. Other translations say…. Be calm. Stay alert. Discipline yourself. Keep a cool head. Stay temperate. Be sober-mined.

We MUST have every engine firing to fight the good fight of faith. Our enemy is our foe, yes, but he is no fool. He knows how to get God’s people defenseless. God needs us sober-minded and shiny! Love it.

LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE UNAPOLOGETICALLY BRIGHT.

And listen. I am DOWN RIGHT PROTECTIVE OF MY LIGHT. I will fight for it today.

Dukes UP against STRIFE. NEGATIVITY. TEMPTATION. STRONGHOLDS. WORRY. ANXIETY. DISCORD.

Today is a good day to let your light shine. God has you on mission as an ambassador. YOU are a city on a hill. Shine brightly so all can see your good works and GLORIFY YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN.
