Goodness To Go…

Blog posts came easier for me when the kids were little.

Our struggles seemed smaller and God’s grace a little more tangible at times.

In my mind, readers wanted stories about improbable babies, baking cookies for neighbors and prayer cards for busy moms.

But now that the boys are older and our struggles are different, I think “No one wants to hear about adolescent hormones, sibling rivalry, or the chronic battle against media all while maintaining intimacy in marriage, a spiritual pulse in my home, intentional family time a little solitude for myself.”

So I just haven’t written much.  I guess it’s mainly because I felt I had little to offer – and the truth is, I don’t have much — except for Jesus mixed with fragments and broken pieces.  Which somehow equates to everything.

So – this is my blog to say, Hi again. I’m still here.  I’m still head over heels for Jesus….

And having tweens has rocked my world.  A lot little.

I want to come back to this screen more often.  Even if it is just for a minute.  If  nothing else, to just flesh out a Scripture that is jumping off the page or a word of encouragement for you. Or me. Or both.

Kinda like this Truth….

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23:6

Surely…. This word is my favorite.

Surely in the Hebrew is the adverb ‘ak and means an emphatic “indeed.”

Now re-read Psalm 23:6 with an emphatic “surely” as we know the word…. This is God’s promise to YOU today….

SURELY goodness and mercy shall follow YOU all the days of YOUR life… and YOU shall SURELY dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Today, God’s goodness is following you around.  Today, God’s mercy is all over you, my friend.  With emphasis indeed.

So no matter where you are – if you are swimming in the same teenage hormone-ridden waters as I am or if you are neck-deep in diapers, God’s goodness is surely there.  If you are buried in mounds of school work or  tapping your corporate toe for the weekend to come, God’s goodness is surely there, too.

How do I know?  Because you are there.  And His Word says goodness and mercy follow you all the days of your life.  Today qualifies.

Stir that Truth in your coffee and enjoy this “Goodness-To-Go” kind of day.

Good to be back…
