Jesus & Joe: A Coffee Devotional

Turn from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. Psalm 34:14

You and I, we have much planned today, don’t we?

Meetings. Lunch appointments. School work. House work. Paper work. Exercise. Phone calls. Grocery. Ball practice.

But let me ask you, as I ask myself… How are we pursuing peace today?

Pursue {to chase ardently. Fight for. Aim.}

Seek peace and eagerly fight for it. Chase it down.

Peace rarely just happens. Peace must be pursued.

As you think through your day, think through your peace. Where will you find it?

Here are 10 ideas as you aim for peace today…

1. Take ten minutes to sit quietly and drink your favorite latte.
2. Mom, put the kids down for nap.  Mom, now you go lay down, too.
3. Play worship music in your home all day long. Even if you aren’t in the room.
4. Call a best friend and pray with them over the phone.
5. Stretch and take a few long deep breaths.
6. Read Psalm 34 out loud and pause after each verse. Ponder.
7. Set the timer on your phone  for five minutes.  Pray a prayer of thanksgiving until it sounds.
8. Read a book holding a cup of tea.
9. Take a drive in the country.
10. Say “no” to one thing today. Create space for peace.

If you plan to pursue peace, share this post on Facebook and proclaim, “Today, I seek peace and pursue it. Psalm 34:14.”

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27
