A Text For The Waiting Room {overcoming fear}

Faith comes easy for me.  It really does.

I am not a doubter.  I take God at His Word.  I BELIEVE HIM.  I BELIEVE HIS PROMISES.

And I can have faith enough for you and me both if you call me with a prayer request.  Or if you are sick.  Or if your family is in crisis.  CALL ME.  I have faith for you.

But it’s funny how much more DIFFICULT faith can be WHEN IT’S ME who is calling the doctor, asking them to “please find a spot for me” as the last work-in patient of the day.

Before I go any further… I AM FINE.  100% fine.  But at 4:10 on Thursday afternoon, my mind was in a tizzy trying to remember to “be anxious for nothing.”

As I sat in the cold waiting area of the doctor’s office, surrounded by children and mommies and Dr. Phil, my phone began to ding.

A friend, sending me text after text.  Scripture after scripture.  Reminding me, not only of my healing in Jesus name, but reminding me NOT TO BE AFRAID.

Because the enemy was all over me like stink on you know what.  The devil, trying to steal my faith and replace it with fear.

This morning I sit here and type, relieved that yesterday is over, and I want to send you a text message, too.

Just like my dear friend.  A list of scriptures for your next I’m-freaking-out  doctor’s visit.   Because the only place freaking out  will get you is into a pit of fear.  And that isn’t where you belong!!  You are a covenant child of a healing, comforting, powerful God.  And you are never alone in that doctor’s office.  Nope.  God is with you in the wait.   Just you and Him. {And Dr. Phil – if it is 3pm}.

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.  1 Peter 5:7

Heal me, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for You are the One I praise.  Jeremiah 17:14

Keep me safe, oh God, for in you I take refuge.  Psalm 16:1

I, even I, am He who comforts you.  Isaiah 51:12

Look to the Lord and His Strength; seek His face always.  Psalm 105:4

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you: I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.  Isaiah 41:10

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will.  He hears us.  And if we know that he hears us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked of him.  1 John 5:14-15

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:6-7

Cast all your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.  Psalm 55:22

  • Do you get tangled up in fear when your health is threatened?  Meditate on these Scriptures.  Commit them to memory.  And remember, the Lord does not give you a spirit of fear, but of power, love and of sound mind.  (2 Timothy 1:7).  Leave a message if you need prayer.  I’d be honored to lift you up today.

Have a great and fearless Friday!

  1. Thank you for this. God knew just what I needed and used you to minister to me. My 13 year old daughter has a nodule & cyst on her thyroid. Finally got an appointment with specialist today and power went out. All appointments cancelled. I am holding to these scriptures through the weekend. Thank you! You are a blessing to me!

  2. Thank you Becky..you are such a blessing..God just spoke thru you. Just what i needed to hear. I am going Monday for a colonoscopy ..I am 42 and was diagnosed with colon cancer a year ago, almost complete blockage..if not for God and the power of prayer I would not have made it. Please pray for good results!

I means so much to hear from you!
