More than all of this…

How precious to me are your thoughts, God!  How vast is the sum of them!  Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. Psalm 139:17-18

The boys moved sand for hours yesterday.  Hours.

Making piles, building walls, digging holes, stacking castles.

We searched for treasures and buried feet.  There are countless activities to be discovered in the imagination of a child.  Playing in sand is a summertime thrill no one really outgrows.

As I sat and watched them play, my head titled back under a straw hat, the Lord whispered to my soul….

“I think of you.  More than all of this.”

This.

I looked out, as far as my eye could see, well aware of my limited view of His creation from my blue beach chair.

“I think of you, more than every granule your boys are piling.  More that every grain your feet have moved.  More than all of this, Becky… I think of you.”

The idea took my breath away.  How sweet of Him to remind me.  In this moment.  From this spot.

Wherever you are sitting right now, as you read from your side of this screen, He is thinking of you, too.

More than all of this.

Be encouraged today.  If you feel forgotten by your God.  If you feel distant.  If sin or apathy has kept you far away.  If life’s busyness has driven a wedge, or hardship has fallen hard…He is thinking of you. Still.

He never has stopped.  Nor will He.

His thoughts of you outnumber the sand.

Sit and bask in this Truth today.

  1. Becky – love your posts (when I take time to read them!) Life is good when you are on the beach at Seaside, with your healthy husband and kids, both employed with jobs you both love –AaaaH – BUT how will you feel when suffering comes, because it will – Be prepared

    • Thanks, Pete. I have always said that I have learned to be a “good steward of a good season.” I am well aware that we are in a season of calm. I am no stranger to heart break. Or hardship. You are so right, it will come again. In the meantime, I am so very thankful for a pleasant lull of chaos. 🙂

  2. Don’t worry about Becky being prepared. She is.

“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:13-17

I means so much to hear from you!
