Mommy, grab a sticky note…

The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.  Psalm 145:8

Lord, Your Word tells me that Your Holy Spirit lives within me.  I am fully embodied with You.  The fullness of your character is made available to me by the death of Jesus.  Lord, this being the case, I have full accessibility to Your graciousness, Your compassion, Your patience, and Your kindness.  You live in me.  So in faith, I am slow to anger and rich in love, as well.

I need this TRUTH.  In the milliseconds I feel as if I am about to explode… In the moment of meltdown when I could jump the seat to the back of the van and pop nozzles in the arguing mouths of my boys.  For the milliseconds in my kitchen making dinner, with whining children hanging on my legs.  In the milliseconds I want to completely unravel, I will remind myself that “I am slow to anger and rich in love.”

I will say it out loud.

Today, as a mother, as a wife, as a driver, as one standing in Walmart checkout lines,  I will love in the power of the Holy Spirit.   I am patient.  I am kind.  I do not dishonor others.  I am not self-seeking.  I am not easily angered!  I keep no records of wrongs.

Today, I love.

And this will not fail.

Today’s Mommy Challenge:  If you are one who reacts in anger  verses responds in love,  go grab a sticky note. A 3×5 card. A dry erase marker. Grab something.  And write down, “I am slow to anger and rich in love.”

Because in Christ (and because of Christ) you are.

Choose love with me today.  Choose Him  with me.

Redefine who you are…  You are not a yeller.  You are not easily angered.

You are slow to anger.  You are rich in love.

Love is patient.  Love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects always trusts, always hopes always perseveres.  Love never fails.  1 Corinthians 13:4-8a

  1. Great one Becky! Lately I’ve been repeating a verse from the song 10000 reasons in my head. “Your rich in love and your slow to anger… This is speaking of The Lord, but we are called to be like Him and this momma longs for it to be true of me. Love you!

  2. Hi Becky, I shared this with a Polish friend this morning – she is a new Christian and was talking about losing her temper with her son. This brought tears to her eyes as she could relate. We signed her up for your blog. Thanks for your transparency 🙂

  3. Becky – read the blog I posted on my Facebook wall last night. Very relevant to you post – you will love I know. Very convicted about this right now. Hope you are loving Destin- this is the best time of year to go!
