A Blog About Running. But Not For Runners.

Do you know what I love most about running a race?

Lord knows it ain’t the winning.

I love that every person standing in the middle of a street, wearing a bib and setting their watch has ultimately come out to do one thing….overcome obstacles.

Seriously, think about it.

After the National anthem is sung and the gun is fired, running shoes set course to race faster and harder than ever before.  I don’t know many people who go through the traffic and trouble just to run s l o w e r.

No.  Runners want to beat their record. They all wake up at dark o’clock to beat a time and accomplish a personal goal.  That goal may be just to cross the tape.  But at least to finish well, nonetheless.

No matter the cost.

Last Sunday marked the 2013 Knoxville Covenant Health Marathon. And if you know anything about Knoxville, then you might know that we love us some hills.  There is very good reason the marathon is coined the “KnoxHill” Marathon.  We even have shirts.

Lordy, day.  Lots of incline around here.

But I don’t view hills as just hills.  Nor do I view running as just running.

Running is a parallel for life.

And can you guess what happens when you get Becky Crenshaw on a half-marathon course, inside her own head, for two solid hours?

Blog posts. Several, several blog posts.

Sooo.

Welcome to the blog series about Running.  But not for Runners.

This series is about Christ. And obstacles. And encouragement. And injury. And hardship. And friendship. And victory. And hills.  And nausea.

Ok. Not nausea. The last part isn’t spiritual.  But I almost did throw up Sunday.  There may be a spiritual connection there somewhere, but I haven’t found it.

So come back next week as we lace up our running shoes and hit the course.

Hey, invite a buddy. Running is always better with friends.

And, did I mention how much I missed you on my blogging hiatus?  Well, I sure did.

Bunches.

So. Glad. To. Be. Back.

Reflection Questions:

Are you facing several inclines in life today?  Give them to the Lord before the day begins.  Lord, I give you ______________.  Thank you that I am “more than a conqueror” in Christ Jesus!

{Go get ’em, tiger.}

Verse for the Day:

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.  Romans 8:37
