Dear Lord, thank you for the gift of Spring Break. You have blessed me with an entire week to invest heavily into the lives and hearts of my children. No school. No baseball. A short to-do list. Fewer distractions. And I confess that “day one” was a challenge! My boys had high energy levels, the weather allowed for little outside play and my patience ran out quickly.
BUT! Today is a new day! I love that about You, Father! Everyday is a clean slate. As it is with my children – a fresh start. Now Lord, I lay this day down as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to You. Let today be a fragrant aroma to You. Lord, forgive me for speaking words of death instead of words of life to my children. Forgive me for every harsh word and even every harsh thought! Lord! I confess they drive me nuts sometimes! But OH I LOVE THEM! (I am sure that I drive You nuts, too! Me and all of my silly habits and inconsistencies. Let me extend the same grace to my babies that You extend to me!)
Let the words of my mouth be pleasing to you, Lord. Let my words be sweet honey! I ask for Your eyes. Let me operate in Your compassionate nature. Children are a blessing from You. A good gift from Heaven. Lord, let me be a thankful recipient today! I pray for each of my children right now – Grant. Ethan. And Luke. I bind the devil from them in the name of Jesus. I ask that they would draw near to You and have a deeper hunger and thirst for scripture!!
Let us pursue the things that matter today! Relationships. Your Word. Give us a heart for others. Guide us today! I pray this week is a holy adventure! Give us a task! Give us a mission! A ministry! What is it, Lord?! I am listening! Guide us by your Holy Spirit, who gives us power and direction as we press on through this spring break! Thank you for Easter week! I love this holiday!! Our lives, as believers, flows from it! Your death and resurrection! Hallelujah! The Gospel! Thank you, Lord!
Take our Spring Break and make it Yours! In Jesus Name! Amen.
A morning devotional for you and the kiddos today…
Read – I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:1-2
Questions to ask:
What does it mean to “offer yourselves as living sacrifices” to God?
How can we offer this week to the Lord? How can we not be “conformed to the world” but renew our minds?
Prayer: God, thank you for Your Word. We give our Spring Break to you and ask for Your will to be done, not our own. Give us vision this morning for how we can be a blessing to others, serve, learn and play hard, too! We love you…In Jesus Name, Amen!
(If you do this devo, let me know how it goes! And if you need prayer this week, leave a comment! I want to be praying for you!)
I receive a blessing from your blog posts! Thank You!
Well, it is the end of day 2. Another inside day for us, also. How did it go for you? We had some strife and had some love. This prayer of yours is encouraging to me!
