A Little Re”mind”er

Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.  Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, WHICH IS YOURS in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 2:3-5 emphasis mine.

I am constantly encouraging my children… put your brother first.  Think of others as more important than you.  Be kind and serve.  Take care of the needs of others first. Walk in humility.

{I am constantly reminding myself of this, too.}

The other day,  I read this verse and these words popped off of the page…

Have this mind among yourselves….which is yours in Christ.

A little RE-MIND-ER for me.

The Bible says in 1st Corinthians 2:16 that “we have the mind of Christ.”  When we receive Him, we receive a heart of flesh. We receive abundant life now, and eternal life to come.  And we receive a renewed mind.

We receive the mind of Christ.

Quite a package, I would say.

So today, I will not try to “muster up” humility. Or “make myself” more thoughtful. I can not “work hard enough” to make myself look to others’ interests first.

I must only renew my mind to His.  The mind which is mine in Christ Jesus.

I have it already.

Amazing.

Just thought you might enjoy this Truth with your cup of Joe.

Love…

  1. Thank you so much for this message today Becky. I’ve been praying and confessing over the last 24 hours about how and where I let my mind wander. What an encouragement to open up your blog with my cup o’ tea (not really a coffee person) and see that it doesn’t have to be difficult to renew my mind, i just simply need to call upon Christ and the mind he has given me.

    Thanks for your faithfulness in posting your walk with Christ in this public forum.

  2. Hey Becky, great re”mind”er! So funny, I have a blog post in mind also using this verse. I find it interesting how God speaks the same message to many at times. Hope you are doing well. Love you friend.
