This summer our pastors are teaching a series on Living With The End In Mind. A sermon series with our bookmarks pitched in First and Second Thessalonians.
Yesterday morning we flipped through passages, all concerning our daily manner of living. A manner of living that is, specifically, worthy of the Lord.
A manner of living that is fully pleasing to a Living God. (click above and listen if you have time – such great stuff.)
As I sat in my seat, flipping along with the church body through references, the Lord spoke to me separately.
About something a little different.
A little sermon within a sermon.
A word from the Lord…about my little boys.
“Turn with me to Colossians 1:9-10,” my pastor said.
And so from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, adding that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.
Pray this over your boys, He said.
He being the Lord. Not my pastor.
Mmm. Yes. Great idea.
So I wrote myself a little note.
Thanks for the prayer card reminder. I wrote up a bunch last summer thinking that each day the kids and I would pick one and pray. Well, it lasted for a few days. Time to get them out and get going!
Several times! It's like the pastor has something for all of us, then God has something else for me. I love that the Holy Spirit speaks to us like that, if we'll just tune in!
